SaaS app for Salla stores: automated WhatsApp messages and campaigns
An app merchants install from the Salla App Store to message customers on WhatsApp automatically, which I built as the engineer for a SaaS company.

The challenge
Salla merchants need to message customers on WhatsApp whenever something happens in their store, without manual work and without getting their number banned. Merchants install the app from the Salla App Store.
What I built
- Automatic messages: seven of them: new order, status change, cash-on-delivery confirmation, abandoned cart, welcome, review request and staff alert, each with editable text and its own delay.
- Marketing campaigns: audience segments, scheduling and a live delivery funnel: sent, delivered, read, failed.
- Abandoned-cart recovery: never messages the same cart twice.
- Merchant dashboard: embedded in the Salla merchant panel, in Arabic and English.
- Operations console: a separate console for the support team, with logged permissions and masked customer numbers.
Tech
Sending runs on queues (BullMQ on Redis) with retries and pacing to protect the merchant's WhatsApp number from bans, and delivery states that tell "delivered" apart from "accepted". The backend is Node.js on PostgreSQL, and the dashboards are React. Installation uses Salla OAuth, with signed webhooks.
Outcome
I was the engineer on this product for a SaaS company, and I built the backend, the merchant dashboard and the operations console. The product name is withheld, and the screenshots use demo data.

Tell me about one process
If a process in your company still runs on spreadsheets and group chats, tell me about it. I'll tell you honestly whether a custom system is worth it.
